Hi! I'm Miss Gina!

With more than 25 years of teaching experience, I am passionate about helping students grow in confidence, creativity, and musicianship. Over the years, I have taught piano and voice lessons, elementary and middle school choir, elementary music classes, African drumming, handbells, and directed music for theater groups. I currently teach Orchestra and Young Strings at Oakland Homeschool Music, as well as private lessons. Until very recently, I taught at McCourts Music in Waterford, but my students and I have found a new and exciting music community at Main Street Music Studio.

While attending Oakland University, I performed with the Oakland University Chorus, Symphonic Orchestra, OU Jazz Singers, and African Ensemble. I also served as Vice President of CMNEC at OU. Most recently, I was honored to serve as soprano section leader for the Detroit Edison Singers.

I enjoy playing a wide variety of instruments, including piano, voice, guitar, ukulele, violin, viola, cello, recorder, and several traditional African instruments. In addition to singing with my church choir, I currently perform with the OHMI Symphonic Orchestra.

I earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Music Education from Oakland University, along with a minor in Piano Pedagogy. I studied piano with Joyce Adelson and Flavio Varani, voice with John Paul White and Janice Albretch, and African instruments with Mark Stone.

Outside of teaching, I stay very involved in my church community by directing the children’s choir, teaching in Kid Nation, and helping wherever I am needed. I am also a homeschooling mom to my three children, all of whom are very involved in music. In my free time, I enjoy coaching adults pursuing financial licenses, swimming, reading, painting, crocheting, crafting, and continuing to practice my many instruments. I live in Clarkston with my three children and our two cats.
